FAQ

What is the Altcoin Season Index?
The share of large coins that outperformed Bitcoin over the last 90 days. If 75% or more beat BTC, the market is in "altcoin season"; at 25% or less, it is "Bitcoin season". Anything in between means a mixed market. We use the top 100 coins by market cap, excluding stablecoins, tokenized funds, gold, and wrapped tokens.
Why can the number differ from other sites?
The method is similar to CoinMarketCap's: top 100 coins by market cap, 90 days. A gap of a few points is still possible because the excluded coins and daily price sources differ (we use Binance, Gate, or OKX candles, and CoinGecko when a coin isn't listed there). Coins younger than 90 days are not counted.
Why does stablecoin market cap matter?
Stablecoins are the cash of the crypto ecosystem. A rising total means fresh money is ready to be deployed; a falling total means money is being withdrawn. Data comes from DefiLlama, calculated from each stablecoin's circulating supply.
